About the Role
📍 London, Kent or Sussex (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days WFH) | Full-Time | Tax Disputes & Risk
We’re looking for a Tax Disputes Senior or Assistant Manager to join a growing and highly regarded Tax Disputes team. This role offers excellent exposure to complex HMRC enquiries and investigations, with the opportunity to take ownership of your own cases while developing deep technical expertise in this specialist and expanding area.
Whether you’re newly qualified and keen to specialise, or already operating at Assistant Manager level, you’ll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team.
What You’ll Do

Manage or support a portfolio of tax disputes and risk management cases

Handle HMRC enquiries, COP8/COP9 investigations, voluntary disclosures, and settlements

Prepare submissions under relevant HMRC disclosure facilities
-
Analyse tax risk positions and identify exposure and mitigation strategies
-
Draft technical correspondence and reports for clients and HMRC
-
Track deadlines and manage compliance requirements across cases
-
Conduct technical research and contribute to internal knowledge sharing

Liaise with clients, HMRC, and external advisers throughout the dispute lifecycle

Work closely with the Head of Tax Disputes and wider Tax, Legal, and Compliance teams

Support the development of internal processes and best practice
What We’re Looking For
Senior Level
-
CTA qualified (or equivalent) — newly qualified candidates welcome
-
Background in Private Client Tax or Corporate Tax
-
Genuine interest in tax disputes and investigations
-
Experience within a private practice environment
-
Proactive mindset with a desire to specialise
Assistant Manager Level
-
CTA qualified (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience
-
Ability to manage your own workload and client cases
-
Strong client-facing and communication skills
-
Background in private practice
