About the Role
📍 Bexhill | Full-Time or 4 Days Per Week | Office-Based with Hybrid Flexibility
Looking for a varied practice role with genuine flexibility?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established accountancy practice in Bexhill, taking responsibility for a varied portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses while working closely with clients on their day-to-day accounting needs.
The role can be worked full-time or across four days per week, making it particularly attractive to an experienced practice accountant looking for greater flexibility without stepping away from a varied, client-facing position.
The Role
You'll work across accounts, tax and bookkeeping while becoming a regular point of contact for clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing accounts for sole traders and limited companies.
- Preparing tax returns.
- Managing bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients.
- Liaising directly with clients and resolving queries.
- Managing client records, appointments and related administration.
- Preparing and managing invoices and tracking expenses.
- Collecting and organising financial information for reporting and analysis.
- Working with colleagues across the practice and external providers.
- Ensuring client work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Who We're Looking For
You'll already have solid experience within an accountancy practice and be comfortable managing your own workload and communicating directly with clients.
You'll ideally have:
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualification, or equivalent experience.
- At least three years' relevant accountancy practice experience.
- Strong accounts preparation and bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with Xero and QuickBooks.
- IRIS experience would be advantageous.
- Good Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence dealing directly with clients.
- A professional and proactive approach to client work.
Working Pattern
There's flexibility around how this role is structured.
You can work full-time or four days per week.
The team typically works from the Bexhill office, particularly while you're settling into the role. Following successful completion of probation, there is flexibility to work from home for up to two days per week for full-time employees, pro rata for part-time contracts.
Why Join?
If you're an experienced practice accountant who enjoys variety but doesn't necessarily want the traditional five-day working week, this offers an interesting balance.
You'll retain exposure across accounts, tax, bookkeeping and client management while having the option of a four-day working pattern and greater hybrid flexibility once established within the team.
Interested?
I'd love to tell you more about the firm, the team and how the four-day working option could work.
